NORRISTOWN, Pa. – USM has donated $3,000 to Theatre Horizon, a Norristown, Pennsylvania, theatre group that operates an autism drama outreach program. The contribution was the result of an April Autism Awareness fundraising event initiated by the company.
A national provider of interior and exterior facilities maintenance programs, USM is a subsidiary of EMCOR Group. which is a mechanical and electrical construction, energy infrastructure and facilities services for a diverse range of businesses.
The employees of USM recently initiated "Touching Lives in Our Community", a Community Involvement Committee and outreach effort, in order to facilitate fundraising within the company in support of local communities and organizations. USM’s April Autism Awareness fund-raising event resulted in $1500 from employee contributions, which USM then matched.
The $3,000 total was donated to Theatre Horizon and will provide scholarships that will enable 17 local autistic children to attend its Autism Drama Outreach program – a six week program held each fall, spring, and winter – designed to inspire imaginary play and encourage interest in human relationships, which are some of the key challenges in children with autism.
“The employees of USM are extremely gratified to be able to support Theatre Horizon," said Ivan Dubow, Chief Operating Officer at USM. “We support the work of the Autism Drama Outreach Program, and we are thrilled to be helping to make a difference in the lives of local children with autism."
