U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that they will be conducting a teleconference “listening session” on Thursday, May 25, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Per USCIS, the purpose of the call is to gather stakeholder input on the H-2B nonimmigrant visa classification program. They are seeking feedback on the impact that any potential increase in the number of H-2B workers may have on U.S. workers.
The agency has not indicated how the call will be managed, but given the term “listening session” the NALP hopes that there is ample opportunity for callers to provide feedback to help illustrate their thoughts for H-2B cap-relief, and to reinforce the ways that the program impacts American seasonal businesses and full-time American employees. It is anticipated that anti-immigration groups, labor union representatives, and other voices opposed to the H-2B program have also been invited to join the call.
