Precision Laboratories has included Microsoft Tags, a variation of Quick Response or QR codes, on their product labels, marketing collateral and business cards. Tags are accessed with any smart phone and provide instant access to educational resources such as videos, technical sheets, case studies and other online resources.
“Not only are we leading the way by adopting the very latest smart technology, but we’re also providing a tremendous service to our customers,” said Don Spier, vice president of turf and ornamentals at Precision Laboratories. “Customers now gain instant access to information, such as application rates, from anywhere on the course that has cell reception. It really adds flexibility and convenience.”
Customers can download the free Tag Reader app onto their smart phone by visiting www.gettag.mobi. Once the app is installed, users can scan Tags, which connect them to additional online content. For instance, Precision Laboratories uses Tags in their Precision Zone Surfactants and Uptake Technology Foliar Nutrition product brochures to connect customers to online content. They’re also being used in print advertisements to accelerate access to visual content by linking to videos and images.
“Naturally, not everyone is an early adopter to this new technology, but the response we’ve received so far has been phenomenal,” said Spier. “In general, people are ‘wowed’ by the concept, plus they’re willing to use it. We’ve already had hundreds of scans to a Tag we included in a brochure launched late last year.”
