BALTIMORE – The Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS) will be heading to the home of the Spartans, Michigan State University in East Lansing, July 28-29 for the second stop in the 2011 Regional Grounds Management Seminars & Site Visit Series. This is the perfect opportunity for college and university grounds professionals to get an up close and insiders view of the grounds program at one of the most prominent campuses in the country.
This two-day site visit will give unprecedented access to the landscape and grounds program at Michigan State, including a tour of the snow and ice response equipment, the Accubrine system and the "grounds proofing" equipment.
On the second day, take a closer look at the landscape department’s sustainability efforts including their composting facility, horticulture gardens and recycling and surplus center.
Education seminars are also on the agenda and will focus on crucial grounds management topics such as snow and ice challenges, mapping a campus, tree protection and using online tutorials to educate front-line staff. There will also be plenty of opportunities for grounds professionals to network with their peers as well as representatives from green industry suppliers.
Schedule details, education seminar information and hotel details are already posted online. Visit www.pgms.org/2011RegionalMichigan.htm for more information.
Launched in 2007, this series of seminars is designed to provide grounds managers with the hard-to-find opportunity to gain knowledge, ask questions, and network with others about challenges and issues specific to their profession.
