Land Plus wins at ASLA Tri-State Annual Design Awards

The Atlanta landscape architecture firm received honor and merit awards.

Atlanta-based land planning and landscape architecture firm Land Plus Associates received two awards in the 2011 Annual Tri-State Design Competition hosted by the Georgia Chapter of ASLA. Bringing together professionals from Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, the Tri-State Awards honor works that represent the forefront of the profession of landscape architecture and embody high levels of creativity and imagination. At this year’s awards banquet the organization recognized Blackland and Serendipity for overall excellence and outstanding residential design.

2011 HONOR & MERIT WINNERS

Form follows function in transforming this narrow, in-town lot from a dated ranch style house to a contemporary reflection of classical architecture with modern sensibility. This sophisticated residence was commissioned as a custom home for a client with specific requirements for strong architectural elements. Working closely as a team, Land Plus along with the architect and client were able to capitalize on the potential of the site through the use of bold geometry and symmetry reflected in the architectural style of the home and design of the pool, hardscapes, and landscape elements.

Blackland Honor Award

The underlying goal for Serendipity was to create a residential landscape refined in classical tradition while showcasing environmental stewardship by means of LEED certification. With the homeowner’s support, the team at Land Plus worked to incorporate LEED guidelines throughout the site and landscape design palette to satisfy environmental considerations while preserving timeless quality of classic materials

Serendipity Merit Award

On hand to accept the awards were Principals Alec Michaelides and Kenneth Lemm and their staff.  “We are excited to be back at award conference this year and again to be recognized by a respected jury of professional peers for our work,” Lemm responded when asked what this award means to the firm.
