PlantHaven presents new Berberis offering

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – PlantHaven presented the Berberis breeding of Michal Andrusiv of the Czech Republic.

Berberis ‘Admiration’ has a blaze of orange-red foliage with gold margins. This dwarf has a tight compact growth habit reaching only 18-24 inches tall in four years. It is suitable for the landscape or as a container plant.

Winner of the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Award of Garden Merit, Berberis ‘Golden Rocket’ is a narrow, upright growing, deciduous shrub with showy, bright yellow foliage set off by coral colored stems.

It will mature to 5 feet tall with a 2 foot spread. Berberis ‘Rosy Rocket’ is an upright growing shrub with a pillar-shaped habit. It will mature to 4 feet tall with a 2 foot spread. Red-silver variegated foliage adds unique interest throughout the growing season.

Berberis ‘Tiny Gold’ is a deciduous, dwarf shrub with bright sunshine yellow foliage. It exhibits a tight compact rounded habit. This easy-care, drought-tolerant shrub matures to 2 feet tall and wide in maturity. ‘Tiny Gold’ is ideal for mixed perennial borders, smaller more detailed gardens, and miniature landscapes.

Berberis 'Orange Rocket' brings color into the landscape. It will mature to 5 feet tall with a 2 foot spread. It is dense and multi-stemmed with rich, scarlet red foliage that fades to a soft orange-red all season long, finally turning to brilliant crimson red in fall. 'Orange Rocket' was named best shrub in the New Varieties Showcase at the Farwest show in Portland, Ore.

All of these selections are tried and true performers in the landscape and in production and hardy to USDA Zone 4.
