PALO ALTO, CA – Spiio released their second-generation wireless sensor, the SP-110. As approximately 70 percent of the water used around the world is for irrigation, and about 60 percent of that water is lost due to evapotranspiration or simply inefficient watering methods, Spiio hopes that the SP-110 will help combat water shortages worldwide.
The sensor keeps track of soil moisture, temperature, light and nutrients. It also has a battery life of 5-6 years and comes with IP grading (IP69K).
“Access to more data will not only help us immediately save water in commercial greenscaping, but over time boost the landscape architect’s possibilities when it comes to greening our future data-driven and sustainable super-cities,” Martin Dal, CEO and co-founder of Spiio, said.
Joe Zazzera, founder of Plant Solutions in Arizona, said he started using Spiio sensors to monitor living walls remotely 24/7. "Having this technology enhances our maintenance skills and fulfills our mission, creating happier, healthier building occupants," he said.
