Every year, green industry professionals flock to Louisville to see the latest and greatest in products and equipment all in one place. Last year, more than 22,600 people from around the world walked the show floor to see what exhibitors were introducing.
“I attend to see what’s new,” says Michael Villwock, Garden Creations by Mike in Berrien Springs, Michigan. “Looking at products in catalogs doesn’t compare to comping to the show to see and test the new products in person. We’re a full-service company, so having hardscape and landscape equipment in one place is a real benefit.”
In 2016, GIE+EXPO and the co-located Hardscape North America featured 900 exhibits, 230 of which were new exhibitors. Show managers expect the show to be about 10% larger indoors. In addition, the Outdoor Demonstration Area, which offers the opportunity to test new products from both shows, is expected to meet or exceed last years’ record-breaking 20 acres.
“This show is pretty amazing,” says Derek Snavely, Snavely Outdoor Solutions in Hinton, West Virginia. “The indoor exhibit is humongous. But the nice thing is you get to come outside and demo everything. You’re able to compare and see which one you like best.”
Last year’s show featured a sold-out New Products Showcase, which is a popular area of the show floor for attendees to get an overview of products introduced within the last year. "I enjoy coming to the show year after year to see all of the new products,” says Jonathon Johnson, Freeman Landscape in Wilmington, North Carolina. We have definitely found things here that we can use in our business."
