Brooks Cowles joins CCG Advisors

CCG Advisors is pleased to announce the addition of D. Brooks Cowles, Jr. as Senior Vice President. Brooks has worked on ownership and exit strategies, valuation and financing solutions for closely held businesses since 1990. With over 250 successful assignments, his experience includes industry consolidations, private equity and strategic sales and business investments. In addition to experience with manufacturing, service, and distribution companies, Brooks is recognized as an authority on acquisitions and divestitures in the deathcare industry.

Brooks is a true Atlanta native. After graduation from The Lovett School, he attended Vanderbilt University for both undergraduate work and Vanderbilt School of Law. Brooks returned to Atlanta and practiced corporate and transactional law with Peterson, Young, Self & Asselin and Cohen-Pollock-Merlin. In 1987, he joined Arlington Corporation as Director of Corporate Development. Arlington acquired 35 funeral homes before being acquired by Service Corporation International in 1990. Brooks then joined Thomas-Pierce & Company, representing owners in divestitures totaling $1 Billion between 1990 and 2000. Since 2000, Brooks has continued to work in the deathcare industry with Johnson Consulting Group and his own company Succession Management, Inc., as well as expanding into investment banking for closely held businesses with revenues from $5 Million to $50 Million in a wide range of other industries, including Internet, distribution, electronics and manufacturing businesses.

In addition to financial and marketing expertise, Brooks has been recognized by his clients for meeting both their financial and nonfinancial goals. He has particular experience with the challenges of multi-generational family owned businesses. With over 30 years of transactional experience, Brooks also has experience with a wide range of tax and legal issues. He particularly enjoys the opportunity to advise his clients on preparing themselves and their businesses in advance of a transaction to achieve maximum value for themselves and continuity for their businesses.

Brooks' wife Nancy is an attorney for the Georgia Public Service Commission. They have two sons. Brooks III is a graduate of LSU and Davis is attending LSU and The University of Montana. Brooks and Nancy are members of Northside Methodist Church and Ansley Golf Club, as well as volunteering with Atlanta Community Food Bank.
