LAS VEGAS – A few days after the Oct. 1 mass shooting in Las Vegas that left 58 dead, local landscape architects teamed with landscape contractors, volunteers and city workers to complete a new, permanent memorial to honor the victims.
“You see people that have never met any of these victims donating trees, donating plants, donating their time, their effort, whatever it takes – the outpouring of the generosity of this community is overwhelming,” Brad Jerbic, Las Vegas City Attorney, told KSL TV in Utah of the memorial.
The idea for the memorial came from two landscape architects who believed the city needed this space, KSL TV reported. Several companies in the landscaping industry helped, including Stonerose Landscapes based in Henderson, Nevada, and Ewing Irrigation & Landscape Supply.
