HydroPoint, AT&T, and Lowe’s released a new case study that shows the benefits of installing smart irrigation and the Internet of Things (IoT) at nearly 1,000 stores.
Lowe’s started looking for more sustainable solutions, in an effort to increase its efficiency while reducing its environmental impact. The company chose smart irrigation systems from HydroPoint that connect through the AT&T IoT platform.
The study found that Lowe’s was able to reduce its annual water use by about 650 million gallons, saving Lowe’s an estimated $5 million. The reduced usage also requires less water treatment and pumping, which reduced greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by about 750 metric tons, the equivalent of burning 84,000 gallons of gasoline.
