2010 Snow Magazine Leadership Summit Coverage - Rock Hall Reception

Snow Magazine introduced its inaugural class of Leadership Award recipients during its Sept. 20th Top Contractor/Leadership ceremony at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland.

GIE Media’s Snow Magazine introduced its inaugural class of Leadership Award recipients during its September 20th Top Contractor ceremony at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, Ohio.

This year’s Leadership Award winners include: Troy Clogg, Troy Clogg Landscape Associates, Wixom, Mich.;Dave Dudash, Green Estates, Cleveland; David J. Frank, David J. Frank Landscape Contracting, Germantown, Wisc.; Ron Kujawa, Kujawa Enterprises, Oak Creek, Wisc.; and Scott Neave, Neave Landscaping Inc., Wappingers Falls, N.Y.

This inaugural class of award recipients embodies all aspects of what Snow Magazine’s Leadership Award honors and represents – a solid commitment to professionalism, industry growth and community, says Snow Magazine Editor Mike Zawacki.

“There’s no question these five snow fighters are savvy business people – you can see that from how they’ve successfully grown and maintained their snow removal operations over the years,” Gilbride says. “But what make them truly outstanding representatives of our industry are their individual commitments to strengthening and legitimizing this industry and their devotion to giving back to the communities they work and live in.”

Choosing this year’s recipients was no simple task, says Snow Magazine Publisher Kevin Gilbride. First, Snow Magazine surveyed industry leaders about who they believed would be worthy of this accolade. Then an editorial advisory panel reviewed each submission and narrowed down candidates to this year’s class of contractors.

“What I found to be the most interesting part of this process was the great stories coming out of the professional snow removal industry of contractors who are involved with more than just pushing snow,” Gilbride says. “There are so many snow contractors who are worthy of a Leadership Award, however I’m honored to say that this inaugural class sets the standard for future classes of recipients.

“With that said, I’m already excited about next year’s Top Contractor event and that class of Leadership Award winners,” he adds.

Also, Snow Magazine awarded industry veteran John Allin with its Pioneer Award for his contributions in advancing the professional snow and I industry.

"A pioneer is defined as someone who is first or among the earliest in defining any field of inquiry, enterprise, or progress," says Gilbride. "Throughout his storied career in the professional snow and ice industry John has known the ups and downs of an entrepreneur, however, he has always brought innovation and professionalism to the industry, leading as an example or helping others to lead by example."

In addition, Snow Magazine saluted snow removal companies who were ranked on the 2010 Top Contractor list.
