Registration open for HNA Installer Championship

Twenty-four teams will compete in a test of their knowledge of craftsmanship, practices, quality and safety.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – This year, up to 24 teams will have their understanding of industry best practices and guidelines tested during the 2015 HNA Installer Championship, a competition created to recognize top hardscape installers and their knowledge of craftsmanship, practices, quality and safety.

These 24 teams won't just earn bragging rights. All teams will compete for the Hardscape North America Installer champion trophy, $1,000 award and the choice of either the iQ360 14" masonry saw with accessories or the iQPC912 power cutter, a Weber MT's CF3 Pro forward plate compactor.

The Installer Championship "runner-up" will receive a $400 award, and will have the chance to select either the iQ360 masonry saw with accessories or the iQPC912 power cutter as their prize.

Third place will receive a $100 award. Each of the four teams in the final round will receive a plaque and tons of free publicity in hardscape magazines and websites.

All participants in the championship will receive gift certificates from Weber MT worth $200 on a reversible or $100 on a rammer or forward plate compactor.

Materials and tools
Only materials provided by the event organizers may be used in the construction. Teams cannot supply their own materials.

The following larger tools will be supplied for use during the Championship: Weber CF3 vibratory plate compactor, iQ320 14" masonry saws with integrated dust collection, screed rails, screed bar, shovel, wheelbarrow and broom.

How does the judging work?
During the preliminary rounds, each team will be given 60 minutes to complete their construction in the prescribed 10' x 8' construction area, and according to the provided design details. Four teams will compete during each round. Each team will be judged on their compliance to industry guidelines and safety regulations, craftsmanship, plus a bonus for completing early. The four teams with the highest scores will advance to the final round.

During the finals, each team will be given 90 minutes to construct their own creative design within the 10' x 8' space provided. Judging of the final round will use the same criteria as the preliminaries, with additional marks being awarded for creativity. The team earning the highest score in the final round will be declared the "2105 HNA Installer Champion." The awards presentation will be Oct. 23 at 3:45 p.m. outside in the Hardscape Installer Championship area.

The HNA Installer Championship will be held Oct. 22-23 in Louisville, Ky., during Hardscape North America (HNA), the industry's largest trade show for hardscape contractors and dealers.
