NALP and many other business stakeholders have been working to mitigate the impact of the new overtime rules that the Department of Labor (DOL) announced in May.The association continues to advocate on behalf of its members for a more common sense implementation that phases in the increase rather than having it all hit at once, as is proposed under the DOL rule. However, unless Congress takes action, the new rule is scheduled to go into effect on Dec. 1 of this year. Consequently, NALP wants to make sure that landscape professionals fully understand what the new rules mean for employers and how to best prepare for the implementation of the new overtime standard.
DOL has scheduled a webinar for Monday, Oct. 17, 2016 at 11 a.m. EST during which representatives from the department’s wage and hour division will cover the basics of the new overtime rule, highlight resources and guidance available for employers, and answer compliance assistance questions. The webinar is provided by DOL in partnership with the Small Business Administration’s office of advocacy. While the session will include the opportunity to submit questions during the presentation’s Q&A segment, DOL encourages participants to submit questions in advance by email.
