KENT, Ohio – Retirees of The Davey Tree Expert Company returned to Kent on Oct. 14 to explore 135 years of Davey Company history on display at the Kent Historical Society.
About 30 retirees attended a luncheon at the Kent State University Hotel and Conference Center before spending time viewing the main exhibit at the historical society, titled “Davey and Kent: Growing Together Since 1880.” The display includes a variety of artifacts but focuses on three key aspects of the company’s success. The exhibit, which is open through December, centers on the general history of the company, the transition to employee ownership in 1979 and the 1985 corporate complex construction and grand opening in Kent.
The Kent Historical Society Museum is located at 237 E. Main St. Admission to the museum is free. It is open on Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can also make arrangements for a private viewing by calling 330-678-2712.
