Boost your marketing

Keep these strategies in mind while working on your marketing.

Christopher Yates, founder of Success Landscape Marketing, says when narrowing down a marketing strategy for your company, it’s important to understand the difference between branding and marketing.

“Brand is made up of your voice, personality and the message you want to convey,” he says. “Marketing is tactical.”

Here a few tips to enhance your marketing efforts:

  • Ensure you have a keyword in your title tag. The title tag appears next to your site name on web browser tabs, and it’s something that can impact Google searches. “Do not have your title tag just say ‘Home’,” Yates says.
  • Keep your logo consistent. “The foundation of your brand is your logo,” Yates says. When using your logo, ensure it is always the same color so that it is easily recognizable and becomes familiar. Include the logo on all promotional materials including your trucks.
  • Have a page for each service. Instead of just directing users to a “Services” page, have different pages created for each service.
  • Put unique content on every page. “You really want to make sure you’re writing fresh content for every single page. To get content ideas, brainstorm with a group of people and ask yourself what the customers are asking. “Ask the person who answers the phone,” he says. You can even search the questions in Google to see what types of answers come up.
  • Optimize your site for conversion. You want to turn page views into customers. Include your phone number at the top of your website and direct people to call you or text you.
  • Online reviews matter. Yates says 40 percent of consumers form an opinion by reading one to three reviews. Put a plan in place to get reviews from your customers soon after a service is completed. A review written within a month is seen as more relevant to someone researching a company. And, don’t forget to respond back to every single review.

Yates also shared a few types of content that will boost your websites views and online engagement.

  • Take photos and videos of your jobs. The images and videos can be used on your website to draw in customers. “People love to see before and after’s,” he says. “So take advantage of that.”

  • Feature education-oriented articles.
  • Include service projects. Post photos or articles about recent volunteer work or service projects.
