“SmartLawn was created to fit a premium need in the market for home service lawn care, residential fertizilation and weed control,” said Chris Noon, founder of SmartLawn.
A year and a half ago, Chris and his brother Matt sold their business, Noon Turf Care, to Trugreen.
Since then, they’ve launched a franchise company, SmartLawn.
As a franchisee, they will have a smart phone system which will go through the call center to allow them to reach customers. They will also have tools to measure properties and give them an instant quote over the phone.
“Every market’s different, but we penetrate markets with social media, email and direct mail, and referrals, and then we’ll usually call behind every campaign to improve on the saturation,” Chris said. “So we can help people build their business, grow their business, and we have all the tools to help them get there.”
Matt says they’re hoping to use their new company to grow the industry, with the end result being that they’ll convert the do-it-yourself homeowner into someone who’ll call their company for a service.
“So we need to grow our industry as well. So it’s like, if we can profitize and meet new people who haven’t bought the service, they go to the hardware store, we can expand the industry and bring them in,” Matt said.
“When we surveyed our clients at our last company, we found that there are a lot of clients that don’t understand there are other companies out there. They didn’t know there was an alternative to receiving products like that in a premium market,” Chris said. “They want a soul behind it. They want a face behind it.”
With SmartLawn, franchisees get a license for the SmartLawn service, as well as all the tools, technology, software, and it’s all included. Then they’re supported through SmartLawn’s call centers.
“It’s clutch now, all the marketing people do it,” Chris said about the call centers. “If no one’s behind the phone and no one’s answering it, it doesn’t matter how many calls you get a day, if it goes to voicemail.”
He said having a call center to answer and direct calls makes you look more professional and consistent as a company.
Currently, SmartLawn is focusing on growing the company in their own region, expanding with quality in proximity to New England, with plans to grow nationally.
