A team of more than 65 team members from Massey Services, the nation’s fifth largest pest prevention company, participated in the American Heart Association’s annual 5K Heart Walk on September 17. The Massey Services team joined an estimated 18,000 Central Floridians to support the fight against heart disease.
In the weeks prior to the walk, the Massey Services team collectively contributed more than $16,000 to help in the fight against cardiovascular disease and stroke. In addition to raising money through donations, team members fundraising efforts also included contributing $5 to wear jeans to work and several raffles.
“I am proud of our team members who put their support behind this effort to bring attention to heart health,” said Tony Massey, president and COO of Massey Services. “This is another example of our belief in the importance of giving back to the communities where we live and work.”
Heart disease and stoke claim over 865,000 American lives each year. The American Heart Association recently launched an initiative to prevent one million heart attacks and strokes in five years.
