Little Lime hydrangea has been selected as the 2016 Plant of the Year by Proven Winners ColorChoice Flowering Shrubs. Since its introduction, this dwarf ‘Limelight’ hydrangea has become a favorite among landscapers, gardeners and homeowners.
Little Lime hydrangea allows landscapers to add the beauty of 'Limelight' but in smaller spaces. Compared to its more famous sibling, this hardy hydrangea may seem petite but it packs a visual punch. In summer, lime green blooms open on strong blooms. As it ages, rich pink coloring emerges to prolong the show through the fall season.
Ideal for residential landscapes, Little Lime hydrangea is excellent as a hedge and makes a bold statement as a mass planting. This hydrangea reaches 3 to 5’ tall and blooms on new wood, so a quick trim in late winter or early spring will encourage fresh growth and an abundance of buds. Hardy to Zone 3, this shrub does best in full sun or part shade.
In September 2015, Little Lime hydrangea was awarded a Gold Medal from The Royal Boskoop Horticultural Society. Other awards include a 2013 Plantarium Gold Medal, 2013 Green is Life Bronze Medal and 2011 American Nursery & Landscape Association (ANLA) Management Clinic Best New Plant award.
