Memphis yard-care firm TruGreen LP will expand one of its first new product lines since separating last year from ServiceMaster Global Holdings.
TruGreen LP, which counts 1.9 million customers in the United States, will offer a lawn sprinkler maintenance service in 15 to 20 markets in 2016 and extend the service throughout the nation the next year, Vice President Brent Armstrong said.
The company launched the sprinkler maintenance service this year in eight cities including Memphis as a pilot program.
TruGreen was among the handful of Memphis-area businesses with annual sales surpassing $1 billion before it split it off from ServiceMaster.
TruGreen’s network of 260 company-owned locations, and a small number of franchisees, markets the irrigation service as TruGreen Sprinkler Repair and Maintenance.
The company, which employs 11,000 nationwide, mows grounds and applies fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides. It was able to roll out the new service this year chiefly by training current workers and making use of its regular equipment without incurring substantial costs, Armstrong said.
