Dr. Michael A. Dirr is expected to unveil his iPhone app, the Dirr’s Tree and Shrub Finder, at the 2011 National Green Centre.
The app offers information on woody landscape plants for landscape professionals and home gardeners in an inexpensive and accessible format. The app includes 9,400 woody plants, 72 search criteria, 7,600 high resolution, full color photos and more than 1,120 line drawings.
Dirr will also be hosting the Sweet Melissa Fashion Show at the 2011 National Green Centre along with several educational sessions and a plant walk at the Missouri Botanical Gardens. The sessions he’ll conduct include, his 3rd biennial colloquium: The Education of Gardeners: How to promote, market, sell and educate, Making Sense of the New Plant Clutter: Strategies for successfully marketing trees and shrubs, and panel sessions on branding strategies and horticulture in 2060.
