KENT, Ohio – The Davey Tree Expert Company has announced the appointment of Tim Walsh to safety manager, corporate safety department.
Walsh, who has more than 25 years of experience working in tree care safety, will work on the continuing development, implementation and evaluation of the Davey Safety Program with Davey’s corporate director of safety, Joe Tommasi.
“Tim’s extensive experience and educational background in arboriculture and professional safety will help us further improve employee safety and safe productivity,” Tommasi said. “Adding his expertise further solidifies the foundation of Davey’s safety culture.”
Walsh has served as staff arborist for the Tree Care Industry Association in addition to having held several safety and leadership positions within the industry. He holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in urban forestry from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, a master’s degree in ergonomics and safety from the University of Massachusetts Lowell and is pursuing a doctorate in safety and ergonomics there as well.
Walsh’s work will support Davey’s Road to Zero program, which is designed to improve employee safety through occupational safety and health education and training programs, monitoring initiatives and promotion of safe work practices. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Davey Road to Zero continuous safety improvement program.
