Irrigation Association installs incoming president

Warren Gorowitz is a 32-year industry veteran and winner of a Lawn & Landscape Leadership Award.

Warren Gorowitz, vice president of sustainability at Ewing Irrigation & Landscape Supply, was installed as the incoming president of the Irrigation Association at the organization’s Irrigation Show in Orlando, Florida, on Thursday.

At the association’s general session Gorowitz said it’s an exciting time to champion sustainable water use. “It’s really the perfect storm,” he said, noting that there is increased attention on sustainability due to recent droughts and a general trend toward conservation.

He also pointed out that new technology is changing how the green industry does business. “The internet of things is changing how we do our jobs every day,” he said. “Managing a water system from the palm of your hand. Pretty innovative when you think about it.”

Gorowitz began his career in the green industry 32 years ago at the age of 14 and holds a bachelor of science in ornamental horticulture from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo as well as an executive master’s of sustainability leadership from Arizona State University.

He was inducted into the Green Industry Hall of Fame earlier this year and is the winner of a 2017 Lawn & Landscape Leadership Award
