NALP honors three with Judges Awards

FAIRFAX, Va. – The National Association of Landscape Professionals hosted its annual Awards Dinner at LANDSCAPES on Oct. 19 in Louisville, Kentucky.

The association recognized 136 Awards of Excellence winning projects, honoring outstanding landscape maintenance, design/build, lawn care and interiorscape projects. From the 52 Grand award-winning projects, three were selected for the highest show honor – the Judges Awards, which went to Walnut Hill Landscape Company in Annapolis, Maryland; Southern Botanical in Dallas; and David J. Frank Landscape Contracting in Milwaukee.

The new Houzz People’s Choice Award was presented to Ledden Palimeno Landscape Company for Outstanding Water Feature. They were selected by the Houzz.com audience, chosen from landscape projects from the 2016 Awards of Excellence.

The following advocacy awards were also given:

• Federal Advocate of the Year – Tim Portland, Yellowstone Landscape

• State Advocate of the Year – Bob Mann, NALP

• State Association Advocate of the Year – Mike Lehman, Singing Hills Landscape

The following companies received Community Partnership Awards for their work: LandCare; SunValley Landscaping; Swingle Lawn, Tree and Landscape Care; Summit Landscapes; and YardApes.

The following companies received Environmental Stewardship Awards for their work: TruGreen and Environmental Enhancements.

The following companies were honored because they had the highest percentage of Landscape Industry Certified staff: BrightView; Monarch Landscape Company; Gothic Landscape; James Martin Associates Inc.; Pacific Landscape Management; Timberline Landscaping Inc.; Weisburg Landscape Maintenance; Lang Landscape LLC; and Environmental Management Services Inc.

Companies with the greatest number of newly certified staff in 2017 included: Gothic Landscape; Kimberly Nurseries Inc.; and Kauai Nursery & Landscaping Inc.
