In July, the Colorado Association of Lawn Care Professionals changed the name to Colorado Arborists and Lawn Care Professionals.
This effort is in response to be more inclusive in the name of all the members of the organization. At least 40 percent of members do tree work and have arborists on staff, so the new name more accurately acclaims that membership base.
This caused a chain of events to occur including registering with the IRS, the Secretary of State, changing the organization's bank accounts and investments, developing a new logo and soon-to-be-launched updated website. Members will receive new truck/window decals at STC and in the mail.
The CALCP board of directors held their annual meeting on Thursday, Sept. 18 at the Denver Botanic Gardens and were treated to a guided tour of the Dale Chihuly Glass Exhibit by Panayoti Kelaides, Senior Curator. The Chichuly exhibition features 14 sites with installations designed specifically for DBG with all handmade glass pieces. The board meeting included adopting a new set of by-laws with the name change to Colorado Arborists and Lawn Care Professionals, adoption of the financials for the 2013-14 year, and election of officers: Emilie Hudson, president, Rick Roehm, vice president, and Tom Lynch as treasurer. Samples of a new logo were presented and reviewed and the new design adopted.
