BLUFFTON, S.C. – During the Tuesday, Nov. 18 Town Hall meeting, the Town of Bluffton honored The Greenery, as well as other contributors of the Wharf Street Redevelopment Project. The project was featured as a Southern Living “Best Community Revitalization” award-winning neighborhood in the magazine’s August issue.
In December 2011, about 100 employees from The Greenery donated their time and expertise installing landscaping and hardscaping at the Wharf Street Redevelopment Project in Old Town Bluffton. The Greenery staff installed nearly 550 plants, shrubs and trees; more than 10,000 square feet of sod; 600 feet of steel edging; more than 80 cubic yards of mulch and plantation gravel mix; and 60 concrete pavers.
Instead of merely writing a check to a charitable organization, President and CEO of The Greenery, Lee Edwards decided to donate the labor to this project, which was valued at close to $20,000.
“All The Greenery employees who participated in this project felt honored to help transform these houses into homes where children can play in the yards and families can gather together,” Edwards said. “Southern Living’s recognition just validates all our hard work.”
