ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Heads Up Landscape Contractors has announced that Amber Goon, account manager, was awarded one of four scholarships from CREW New Mexico. CREW stands for Commercial Real Estate Women, and is the New Mexico chapter of a national organization dedicated to providing professionals in the commercial real estate industry with networking, educational and community outreach opportunities. The scholarship allowed Goon to attend the 2015 CREW Network convention and marketplace in Seattle, Washington Sept. 30-Oct. 3, 2015.
“There were several influential women speakers at the event, including Madeleine Albright (former U.S. Secretary of State), Carla Harris (VP of Morgan Stanley, author, singer), Rita McGarth (business strategist, author), and Marci Rossell (former CNBC Chief Economist),” said Goon, who joined Heads Up Landscape Contractors in 2013 as an intern. “Although some men are involved, this is primarily a group of women that work together in the commercial industry and try to help promote each other’s careers. Being new to the industry, I think this is a great organization for support and to use as a resource.”
Goon received her BBA in marketing from the University of New Mexico’s Anderson School of Management. She was initially hired as an intern in 2013 to help with customer service. After completing her internship, Goon was hired full time, where her role was helping with the transition of the Northern Meadows Home Owners Association account. She was promoted to site manager for the apartment division. Currently Goon works in maintenance business development where she specializes in new maintenance contracts for commercial properties.
