The National Green Centre held in January will offer a trade show and more than 90 hours of education. Those who will be speaking at the event held January 9-10, 2011 in St. Louis include:
Tom Barrett, owner of Green Water Infrastructure, will speak twice. Once on rain gardens and bioswales and a second time on resource efficient landscape irrigation
The rain gardens and bioswales learning objectives:
• Understanding that stormwater is the largest source of water pollution in the United States
• Sustainability starts with the landscape. Developing a functional landscape is the most effective and efficient means of remediating the environment.
• Combining “green infrastructure” with existing, conventional “gray infrastructure,” as well as combining new technology with old technology creating a sustainable future.
Effiecient landscape irrigation learning objective:
• Efficient use of irrigation water
• USGBC LEED point system for landscape irrigation systems.
• Alternate water sources for landscape irrigation.
Jeffrey L. Bruce, owner of Jeffrey L. Bruce & Co., will speak on the future of green.
Learning Objectives:
• Learn about the business opportunities and challenges associated with the future of the green industry.
• Understand the potential and promise of emerging green infrastructure technologies in the critical process of healing the earth.
• Explore the future of urban landscapes and how it will revolutionize the green industry business practices.
