The Landscape Industry Certified Technician test has been issued in California since 1984. The test was created to recognize proficiency in the landscape workforce. The test has also upgraded the status of the landscape professional and provides the public with a means of identifying qualified landscape professionals.
In order to earn the Landscape Industry Certified Technician designation an applicant must complete both written and hands-on testing. The hands-on testing demonstrates the applicants skills by performing problems which approximate “real life” scenarios at the test site. While doing the hands-on problems, applicants are judged on their work method, adherence to best practices and safety ideals.
