WNLA student advisory committee expanding

The Western Nursery & Landscape Association’s student advisory committee is expanding for 2017. Ten top horticulture students in the Midwest have been invited to join the Committee:
• Scott Mendenhall – Oklahoma State University
• Nathan Trainer – Iowa State University
• Conner White – Kansas State University
• Nathan Duffy – University of Nebraska - Lincoln
• Melanie Stollhous – Southeast Missouri State University
• Vince Metz – Iowa State University
• Tyler Wood – Southeast Missouri State University
• Madison Culley – Kansas State University
• Kayla Johnson, University of Nebraska – Omaha
• Blake Kruse – Oklahoma State University

These students are charged with developing ideas and recommendations on educational programming, networking opportunities and other member benefits that would better serve WNLA’s student members now and into the start of their horticulture careers. 

The students will meet at the 2017 Western. Following a committee meeting, the student advisory committee will meet with the WNLA board of directors to share their ideas and recommendations and will work together with the board and with WNLA staff to develop and implement these initiatives.

New for 2017, students and the student advisory committee sponsors will be invited to join the Western Board and guests Sally Benson with American Nurseryman and Susan Yoder with Seed Your Future for an evening reception. The reception will serve to better connect current industry leaders with the next generation of leaders.

All students at the 2017 Western are invited to join us for the Student Forum with Claudia West. Students are encouraged to come prepared with questions for Claudia as part of the opportunity to talk with a nationally recognized speaker and author.

The 2017 Western is January 19-20, 2017 in Kansas City, Missouri. Registration is $50 per person (WNLA members). Registration, schedule, exhibitor list and other show information are online at wnla.org.
