KENT, Ohio – The Davey Tree Expert Company promoted Joe Tommasi to vice president of corporate safety and Larry Evans to vice president and general manager of the Davey Tree Surgery Company, a subsidiary of Davey Tree.

Tommasi started on a utility line clearance crew in 1972 in New York and has been a safety leader in the green industry for more than 35 years. He joined Davey in 1994 as safety manager and has held progressive roles of responsibility in safety and risk management since then.

“Over his career, Joe’s passion and commitment to continuous safety improvement have not only made the Davey Company a far safer place to work, but have enhanced the safety environment for all arborists,” said Pat Covey, president and CEO of Davey Tree. “His leadership and guidance on the committees and boards he has served on has elevated the safety culture and performance of our entire industry.”

Evans started with Davey in 1980 and moved up through the ranks of climber, foreman, district foreman and area supervisor in his first 10 years. In 1997, he was promoted to account manager and then again to operations manager in 2003. In 2006, Evans was named the vice president and in 2012 he was promoted to senior vice president.

“Larry has been a consistent and tenacious supporter of his people and the Davey Company. He has a relentless drive to improve every situation,” said Pat Covey, president and CEO of Davey Tree. “Throughout his career, he has provided our clients in the western United States with an unmatched commitment to safety, service and superior performance.”
