Borst Landscape and Design in Allendale, New Jersey, recently won the Grand Award in Environmental Improvement from the Professional Land Care Network (PLANET), an international association of landscape design/build professionals, landscape management companies, lawn care contractors and interior plantsmen. A key criterion for the award is execution of a superior landscape project, which Borst demonstrated with a challenging landscape design/build project in Bergen County.
“The project for which we are being honored with PLANET’s Environmental Improvement Award was very challenging,” said Mark Borst, president. “To meet the clients requirements we needed to reclaim a severely sloping portion of the rear yard to create enough space for a swimming pool with waterfall, an outdoor kitchen and ample seating for a large group or a simple family meal. The end result was a dramatic outdoor living space that made the most of a relatively small backyard.”
“It took a month of planning and a year of construction, but the completed project has exceeded the client’s expectations in a relatively small space,” said Joe Tuttle, landscape designer for the project. “It was well worth the effort to solve the many restrictions the site presented, among them, topography, drainage, access limitations and zoning. The homeowners now have a true backyard retreat that greatly enhances their lifestyle, expands their entertaining options, and increases property value.”
