NYSTA elects 2017 officers and directors

The association held the election during its annual meeting in Rochester, New York.

The New York State Turfgrass Association (NYSTA) elected its 2017 officers and directors at its annual meeting held during the Turf & Grounds Exposition on Nov. 17 in Rochester, New York.

Jim Hornung, Jr., CSP, CLP will serve as president of the association. Hornung is president of Elbers Landscape Service, Inc. and Great Lakes Athletic Fields, Inc. He is also a Certified Snow Professional and Certified Landscape Professional.

John Carlone, CGCS will serve as vice president of the association. Carlone is the golf course superintendent of the Meadow Brook Club.

Steven Whipple will serve as secretary/treasurer. Whipple is the golf course superintendent at United States Military Academy at West Point.

Timothy Hahn, superintendent for The Links at Greystone will serve as past president.

The newly elected directors include:

Greg Chorvas  - Cantine Veterans Sports Complex
Robert J. Nielsen, Jr., CGCS - Bedford Golf and Tennis Club

Other board members serving as directors include:

Tom Leahy, CGCS - Sleepy Hollow Country Club
Roger Lind - Grassland Equipment & Irrigation Corporation, Inc.
Michael Maffei, CGCS - Back O'Beyond, Inc.
Dominic Morales - Professor Emeritus, SUNY Delhi
