Not just a UTV

Gravely introduced a jobsite vehicle, Michelin and John Deere partner and other products released at the show.

Gravely’s JSV utility vehicle may be called a UTV, but it has a more specific description – a jobsite vehicle.

The company made the decision to title the vehicle a “jobsite” vehicle, with plans that it will change the way customers look at the vehicle and its capabilities.

The company worked with Polaris for two years to put the product together by conducting focus groups to find out what consumers want in a jobsite vehicle.

“We really have to identify us as separate from UTVs,” said Dan Ariens, CEO and president of Ariens Company, Gravely’s parent company. “We are gonna identify specifically as a jobsite vehicle.”

“(The vehicle is) for operations management teams driven by productivity and responsibility for getting a lot of work done,” by Bill Engler, director of commercial sales for Ariens.

The company has four models available, with two fuel options: EFI and diesel. The EFI features a 1-cylinder, 570cc Polaris DOHC gas engine and the diesel features a 3-cylinder, 1028cc Kohler diesel engine. Each is also available as a three-seater (The SSC-3000) or six-seater (the SSV-6000). The vehicles can reach a max speed of 35 mph.

The vehicle has a 1,900 lb. payload and 2,000 lb. towing capacity. The MX-18 JobBox features a 1,250 lb. capacity, all made of steel. The cargo bed is also on electric lift, which is standard for all Atlas vehicles.

“She’s designed to work,” said JW Washington, regional manager for Ariens Company. “We deliberately made her look like a work truck.”

The Atlas also has a heavy duty brush guard on the front, which is standard, all four headlights are on at once to help with sight on dark jobsites, and every seat has a 3-point seatbelt.

The Atlas JSVs will be shipped to dealers next week. During EXPO, Ariens’ outdoor booth will feature a test track to test what the Atlas has to offer.
