Planted Earth hosts 2026 winter conference

This year’s event focused on how technology, sustainability and data-driven tools are shaping the future of landscape architecture and horticulture.

Mariani Premier Group company Planted Earth, a provider of professional landscape and horticulture services in the Mid-Atlantic region, recently hosted its 5th annual winter conference at Turf Valley Resort in Ellicott City, Maryland. The event brought together over 100 landscape architects, designers, horticulturists and green-industry professionals for a full day of industry learning and networking.

This year’s theme, “Landscaping 2.0: Rooted in Innovation,” focused on how technology, sustainability and data-driven tools are shaping the future of landscape architecture and horticulture. Through a full day of educational sessions and networking opportunities, attendees explored advancements in design technology, smart irrigation, drone applications and integrated site planning — all aimed at creating more efficient, intelligent and environmentally responsible landscapes.

As an official educational provider, Planted Earth offered qualifying attendees the opportunity to earn 5.0 LA CES credits through the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) and 5.0 APLD credits through the Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD). The continuing education component underscores Planted Earth’s commitment to delivering meaningful, standards-based programming that supports the professional growth of landscape architects and designers.

"From a marketing perspective, bringing our partners across the green industry together for a focused day of learning and collaboration ahead of the new year is incredibly impactful. At Planted Earth, growth extends beyond the landscapes we manage — it includes the professional community we cultivate. By exchanging ideas, exploring innovation, and strengthening relationships before the spring season begins, we lay the groundwork for a stronger, more connected year ahead,” says Stephanie White, marketing director for Planted Earth.

“At the core of the Mariani Premier Group is a strong commitment to sharing best practices and innovative insights with our green industry colleagues and this event is a wonderful example of our commitment in action,” says Bryan Christiansen, CEO of the Mariani Premier Group.

What began years ago as a small in-house training has evolved into a fully educational, landscape architect–driven gathering and has become one of Planted Earth’s largest annual events.

Planted Earth’s 2026 Winter Conference, featured speakers included Kevin Minton of Coastal Source, who presented on integrated outdoor audio and lighting solutions; Kirk Floyd of KDrone Services, who explored the expanding role of drone technology in horticulture; and Tony Kostreski of Vectorworks, who shared insights on AI-driven digital design tools. Additional sessions focused on smart irrigation advancements and regional nursery updates, reinforcing Planted Earth’s commitment to innovation, operational excellence and delivering high-performance landscapes for discerning clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

Following the success of this year’s conference, Planted Earth is exploring plans to expand its educational offerings in the future, including a potential summer event currently in development.
