The Chelmsford, Mass., region has recently been victim of numerous landscaping thefts. Thousands of dollars worth of equipment has been stolen from locked sheds and trailers.
The Chelmsford Police Department is encouraging local companies to not purchase any landscaping equipment from unauthorized or unknown sellers. If you are approached by a seller or observe anyone lurking around your equipment, we are asking your cooperation in providing us with the following information:
- Details about the equipment being sold
- Vehicle information or license plates
- Seller’s names or descriptions
Also, they are encouraging you to double check your own equipment security, Make sure that the locks used to store equipment are good and not easily tampered with. Also, if possible, keep your equipment in well-lit areas to deter any suspicious activity.
