EAST LANSING, Mich. – Landscape contractors have a new tool at their disposal to save money on health care costs for themselves and their employees.
MedCard Solutions is an insurance plan. It’s a program that gives members discounted rates – anywhere from 10 to 60 percent – on prescription drugs, as well as discounts at doctors, dentists and optometrists.
“This affordable discount plan is the perfect complement to partial benefit plans most small business owners are able to afford, enabling you to provide your employees with on-the-spot savings when they use professionals from the vast provider network,” says Mark Grost, executive vice president at MedCard Solutions.
Prescription discount plans start at $8.95 per month and a more comprehensive plan with dental-vision-and prescriptions cost $14.95 per month for an entire household. Owners can choose to contribute any amount to the program to help cover the cost for their employees.
“Providing additional benefits will help retain valuable employees and save the time and expense associated with recruiting, selecting and training new hires,” Grost says.
Lawn & Landscape is an exclusive media partner with MedCard Solutions, and is working with the company to bring the benefit to the green industry.
“The program offers a bridge in coverage for employees that either may be part time or not have full health benefits,” says Kevin Gilbride, publisher of Lawn & Landscape. “In this economny, many companies have had to cut back the benefits they offer to their employees, and this program can at least provide some sort of coverage. It’s not insurance, but it’s a great benefit package at a low cost.”
