By using Meteorlogix services, the Minnesota Section of the PGA of America has access to real-time, location-specific weather information for each of its events.
In addition, the Minnesota Section of the PGA of America will utilize Meteorlogix’s patented WINS™ mobile alerting technology. WINS technology sends customized weather information to event officials via PC, cell phone, e-mail, PDA or pager. This ensures that event officials who are out on the golf course are still being updated on developing weather conditions.
With MxVision WeatherSentry’s PrecipTimer™ and Lightning Manager®, event officials are able to make informed decisions to keep golfers and spectators safe. With PrecipTimer, parameters can be set so that the tool identifies the tournament location and automatically monitors radar data to provide start and stop times for rain occurrences.
Additionally, lightning is a serious weather hazard frequently associated with the wide-open spaces of golf courses. When a lightning strike occurs within the pre-set area, Lightning Manager sounds an audible alarm alerting officials.
The Pro Series Tournaments will be held at The Refuge Golf Course on July 5, 2005 and Woodhill Country Club on Oct. 10, 2005. The Minnesota State Open will be held at Bunker Hills Golf Club July 22 through July 24, 2005.
“Meteorlogix is proud to be the official weather sponsor of the Minnesota Section of the PGA of America,” said Robert Gordon, chief executive officer, DTN. “We strive to provide easy to use, state-of-the-art weather information for golf courses in order to keep patrons safe and event officials on top of developing weather conditions.”
MxVision WeatherSentry® provides golf courses with weather information designed to manage rain delays, monitor lightning, schedule chemical applications and create course maintenance schedules. Golf course management is better equipped to handle corporate events as well as offer a higher level of protection for golfer and employee safety.
