SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Hunter Industries Specification Sales Manager Michael Clark was elected to serve as 2005 board chairman for the Irrigation Association’s (IA) certification board. Clark, who has served on the Board since 1996, served as Chair for the Irrigation Association’s contractor committee for the past three years and is IA-certified as a contractor, designer, landscape auditor, and golf irrigation auditor.

The certification board manages the IA’s certification program, which is designed for irrigation professionals to demonstrate experience and technical competence to the industry and customers. The board is responsible for developing exams, reviewing exam questions, creating study manuals, developing new certifications, and conducting technical reviews.
“It is my personal belief that a person should give back to the industry in which they work,” Clark said. “As a member of the IA certification board, I have an opportunity to improve the industry by increasing the membership’s skills and making the public more aware of the irrigation industry.”
As Chair, Clark will serve as liaison between the certification board and the IA board of directors. He will preside over annual meetings and regularly communicate with the 13 board members to ensure that the certification board’s initiatives are carried out throughout the year.
