DETROIT – Southeast Michigan residents are being urged to make adjustments to avoid emission-generating activities today – and that includes lawn maintenance.
Clean Air Coalition meteorologists have forecasted Aug. 20 as an Ozone Action day, making it the ninth Ozone Action day of the summer.
The coalition is asking homeowners to postpone lawn work that involves gas-powered equipment and delay those household chores using solvents.
Motorists can help by refueling during cooler evening hours, not topping off the tank, and avoiding idling whenever possible. And commuters can try transit or consider carpooling with fellow employees.
