Mid-Am 2006 Aims to Break New Ground

New features at the 2006 show will include product demonstrations and Internet access stations.

The Mid-America Horticultural Trade Show (Mid-Am) runs Jan. 18 to 20, 2006 at Lakeside Center in Chicago’s McCormick Place Convention Center. The event will include a number of new features in 2006, which is why the theme will be “Breaking New Ground.”

“The slogan is a harbinger of things to come from Mid-Am,” says the event’s managing director Rand Baldwin. “The show will have a fresh look and feel for 2006, along with some exciting new elements that we hope will give the show added appeal for attendees and exhibitors alike.”

For one, attendees will have the opportunity to observe daily product demonstrations from Mid-Am exhibitors. An area on the exhibit floor will be designated for the demonstrations, and half-hour blocks will be scheduled during the day on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. “The product demonstrations are a great way for those attending Mid-Am to learn about new, innovative or popular items that are available for the new season from exhibitors,” says Mid-Am president John Hendricksen of The Care of Trees in Wheeling, Ill.

Also new in 2006 is the Surfin’ Station, an area dedicated for Internet and e-mail access. In addition, the Show Directory, an on-site program guide, will help attendees find what they are looking for by highlighting featured items from more than 600 exhibitors. Some of the featured items may appear in the scenic garden lounges scattered throughout the 125,000-net-square-feet show floor. The lounges – decorated with the latest plant and garden ideas – will provide a respite from the busy tradeshow floor.
