ORLANDO, Fla. - Orlando-based Middleton Lawn and Pest Control won an ADDY (Orlando Advertising Federation) award for its commercial, "Through the Years," which aired during the season premiere of "Survivor II" on January 28, 2001.
It was the second year the lawn care and pest control company took home awards for its commercial, which are created by PUSH, an advertising agency also based in Orlando. In 2000, Middleton and PUSH took home several ADDY awards, including "Best of Show," for their television spots.
This year's commercial won "Best of Broadcast" at the January awards show. There were more than 70 local, regional and national entries in the highly competitive category.
Middleton's advertising campaign centers around comedy-driven commercials that focus on sub-par competition, bad service and uncomfortable everyday situations. Red Lizard Films produced "Through the Years," which features a retired couple with obvious termite problems. Middleton's 2001 campaign exceeds $1 million and will include more television spots, as well as regional radio and print advertising.
"We think it's good for our image and it's the way we want to project ourselves to the public," Greg Clendenin, president, Middleton, said of his company's humorous commercials in January.
