Miramar Brings Color to Welk Resort

Welk Resort adds red and yellow to Villas-on-the-Greens.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Miramar Wholesale Nurseries has provided nearly 1,000

plants to the Lawrence Welk Resort to add color to its Villas-on-the-Green expansion. The resort wanted a tropical theme, so the nursery provided a plant pallet that includes Japanese boxwood, cypress, ficus, phormium, tecoma, nemesia, and verbena.

The 13-acre Villas-on-the-Green project is currently about 50% completed, and entails replacing the existing hotel buildings with state of the art timeshare units. The landscape designer is George Mercer associates of La Mesa. The overall landscape theme has a tropical feel tempered by the reality of an inland valley climate. Hundreds of palm trees dominate the

landscape with phormium, Bird of paradise, bamboo, daylilies and philodendrons adding to the tropical feel. Although the Villas-on-the-Green timeshares will be completed in the next two years, the Welk resort has two other timeshare projects in the planning stages, Garden Villas and Canyon Villas. The 300-acre family vacation destination is located north of Escondido on I-15.
