ZEELAND, Mich. – More than 100 booth spaces will be filled with dealers exhibiting tractors and equipment, nursery stock, sod, stone, mulch, concrete products, pots and containers, chemicals and fertilizers, snow and ice products and equipment, and other industry products and services at the MNLA Summer Field Day.
This year’s event takes place Aug. 12 at Walters Gardens in Zeeland, Mich. Visit www.mnla.org for a complete agenda.
This year’s event also features the Inaugural Snow and Ice Summit, sponsored by the Snow & Ice Management Association (SIMA). The presentation brings together snow and ice management suppliers, and a two-hour Snow & Ice Management Strategy Session with Michael Anderson.
Snow and ice management is challenging work to say the least. The most successful snow management firms are the ones that take time and effort to understand the inherent risks built into snow, and to establish a process to help manage those risks effectively. In this two hour presentation Mike Anderson will share his experiences of managing one of the largest snow and ice management firms in Indiana. Mike will guide attendees through the basic building blocks of creating a sustainable snow management company including:
- A brief discussion of the basic building blocks of bidding work in snow, including job costing, measuring, production rates, weather history, and differing contract opportunities
- A review of contractual do’s and don’ts, with lessons from real life on the risks of over-promising and slip and fall liability claims
- A sales and marketing discussion, addressing the snow sales process, final negotiations, and presenting a proposal to win more work
Event attendees can also:
- Attend a talk from Allan Armitage, “If You Are Going To Spend Your Money, You Might As Well Buy The Good Stuff” – (some thoughts on plants and the marketplace) by Dr. Armitage
- Take three guided tours
- See Elle plug production, the expanded Hosta department, the New Plant Development department and much more.
- See bare root and greenhouse grown plants packed for shipment nationwide, extensive cold storage facilities, tissue culture lab and more.
- See acres of field grown perennials being grown for Fall 2010/Spring 2011 shipping. Specialized production machinery on display.
An annual feature of the Summer Field Day is the New Plants & Products Showcase. The Showcase is located near the exhibit area and features the newest green industry plants and products that our exhibitors have to offer.
