MWE Acquires Assets of Briggs & Stratton Distributorship

MWE, formerly known as Midwest Engine Warehouse, completed the acquisition of certain assets of Power Equipment Co., the Briggs & Stratton distributorship operated by Atlantic Power.

MWE, formerly known as Midwest Engine Warehouse in Aurora, Ill., completed the acquisition of certain assets of Power Equipment Co. (PECO), the Briggs & Stratton distributorship operated by Atlantic Power. MWE will provide sales and service for the Briggs & Stratton product line in the territory of California, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada and Texas that was previously served by Power Equipment Company.

“This acquisition supports our goal to further enhance the sales and service support we provide to our customers,” says Bill Fritz, executive vice president of Illinois Auto Electric, the parent company of MWE. “In today’s lawn and garden service business, we are always searching for new ways to improve our operations. We are confident in our mission to provide superior sales and service support to the customers we serve in the power equipment industry.”

John S. Stephenson, CEO of Atlantic Power, adds, “Ultimately, this transaction was an opportunity for Integrated Distributors Network members to optimize a geographic region. We will miss the direct relationship with our west coast customers, but feel that they, and the IDN network in general, will be better served in the future.”

“Briggs & Stratton fully supports this acquisition and its mission to provide our customers with superior service and support,” says Jim Kyle, vice president of customer support at Briggs & Stratton.

Briggs & Stratton is a manufacturer of small, air-cooled engines for lawn and garden and other outdoor power equipment. The products are designed, manufactured, marketed and serviced in more than 100 countries on all seven continents.
