The 2009 New Jersey Nursery & Landscape Trade Show, sponsored by the New Jersey Nursery & Landscape Association (NJNLA), is scheduled for Jan. 14-15, 2009 at the Garden State Exhibit Center Somerset, N.J. 2009 marks the first year everything will be held inside the Garden State Exhibit Center, including all educational sessions and the Rutgers NJAES Central Turf & Ornamental Institute.
The theme for the 2009 New Jersey Trade Show is “Surviving the Economic Meltdown of 2008/2009”. Keynote speaker for 2009 is Joe Seneca, Ph.D., of Rutgers University who will discuss “New Jersey’s Economic Analysis & Its Outlook for the Nursery & Landscape Industry”. Other topics/speakers include: “Smart Survival in the Nursery & Landscape Industry” by Marcus vandeVliet, MV Consulting, Wilmington, Del.; “Green Opportunities to Expand your Business” by Howard Roberts, Cross River Design, Annandale, N.J.; “Native Plants with Ornamental Qualities” by Don Knezick, Pinelands Nursery, Columbus, N.J.; “Plant Selection 101” – A panel discussion on the selection of plant materials in a nursery/wholesale yard setting featuring Carl Quazza, Q-Man Marketing (Wayne, N.J.); Joe Fox, Barton Nursery (Edison, N.J.); Art Laster, Plant Detectives (Chester, N.J.); “Alternative Energy Solutions for the Nursery & Landscape Industry” by Dave Specca, Acting Director of Rutgers Eco Complex, Columbus, N.J.
The New Jersey Nursery & Landscape Trade Show is targeted for landscape architects, landscape contractors, landscape maintenance contractors, wholesale growers, garden center operators, owners & employees. N.J. Certified Landscape Architects can obtain continuing education units by attending this event.
In addition to the educational sessions, the trade show takes place inside the adjacent Garden State Exhibit Center. Over 200 exhibitors highlight the show that features equipment, plant material, and supplies.
The cost of admission for the 2009 New Jersey Nursery & Landscape Trade Show is as follows: NJNLA members: $45 per person which gains admittance to both the educational sessions and trade show and is valid for both days; $150 group rate of five (5) individuals from same NJNLA member firm for both the educational sessions and trade show, valid for both days; NJNLA member Trade Show Only price: Free if pre-registered; $15 on site. Non-NJNLA members: $60 per person which gains admittance to both the educational sessions and trade show and is valid for both days. Non-NJNLA member Trade Show Only price: $10 pre-registration, $20 on-site. Deadline for pre-registration is Jan. 2, 2009.
The Garden State Exhibit Center is located off Exit 10 off I-287, 12 miles west of NJ Turnpike Exit 10, approximately 25 miles southwest of Newark, 3 miles from New Brunswick, 25 miles from Princeton, 21 miles from Morristown, 36 miles from New York City, and 56 miles from Philadelphia.
