WESTCHESTER, N.Y. – The New York State Turf and Landscape Association will be among those honored by the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Westchester for its work with the organization, according to The Journal News.
The association will receive the award during Cornell of Westchester's 90th anniversary celebration Sunday.
"The people in the green industry are some of our biggest supporters here," Bev Martin, program marketing coordinator at Cornell of Westchester told The Journal News. "If they have a problem, they can call us, or bring things in for diagnosis.”
The New York State Turf and Landscape Association is being recognized for helping to bring up-to-date information on pesticides and other environmental advice from Cornell Cooperative directly to the green industry.
"We work closely with them and help to bring in some of the teachers," says Annette Zelman, executive director of the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Westchester. "They're always interested in knowing more about recent findings about pesticides and how to use them in the most responsible way."
Every January, the Turf and Landscape Association holds a conference for about 1,000 of its members, offering courses in pesticide training and ways to encourage wildlife.
