Green industry consultant Jim Huston has introduced a “learning system” for contractors, which includes a book, six audio compact discs and a Microsoft Excel compact disc.
The book, “How to Price Landscape & Irrigation Projects” is a practical, step-by-step, hands-on guide providing a comparative analysis of the six most common methods of estimating used in the market today. The book explains how to price projects accurately and confidently, and it explains Six Sigma, the total quality management (TQM) process and how to run jobs – and a company – right from the bid sheet.
With more than 600 pages and 56 chapters, Huston has updated and expanded his original book on estimating: “Estimating for Landscape & Irrigation Contractors,” published in 1994.
The updated edition also covers business topics, such as exit strategies, green industry benchmarks, bonuses and incentive plans, company structure and growth patterns – and many green industry pricing scenarios are included. Diagrams, exhibits and practical exercises in the book are available on the accompanying Excel disc.
Huston has been a management consultant, speaker and seminar instructor for the green industry since 1987. He is a member of the American Society of Professional Estimators and one of two Certified Professional Landscape Estimators worldwide. “How to Price Landscape & Irrigation Projects” is his fourth book written specifically for the green industry.
