A New York landscape contractor was undergoing emergency surgery June 22 after being severely cut in a lawnmower accident.
German Reyes, 29, of Mahwah was mowing the steep lawn at Ramapo Cirque when he sliced open his right thigh, Suffern Police Detective Craig Long said.
He worked for Grasskeepers Landscapers of Suffern.
The employee was taken by ambulance to the Suffern Middle School on Hemion Road, where a STAT-Flight helicopter landed, Long said.
The accident is under investigation by the Suffern police and the U.S. Labor Department's Occupation Safety and Health Administration inspectors in Tarrytown.
