INDIANAPOLIS — LockUp specialty herbicide from Dow AgroSciences is now available through distributors and formulators in combination with granular fertilizers for control of dandelion in labeled turfgrass species.
It also provides postemergence control for a wide variety of other broadleaf weeds, including white clover, chickweed, lespedeza and ground ivy — more than 25 weeds overall. LockUp is available for use on cool- and warm-season turf by landscape professionals.
New granular formulations of LockUp on fertilizer are available in the north from Lebanon Seaboard and John Deere Landscapes. ProScape with LockUp (penoxsulam + dicamba + 2,4-D) is available through Lebanon Seaboard. John Deere Landscapes currently markets LockUp Extra (penoxsulam + dicamba) and LockUp Extra 2 (penoxsulam + dicamba + 2,4-D). There will be formulations available from other distributors and formulators in the near future.
The active ingredient, penoxsulam, was accepted for review and registration under the Reduced Risk Pesticide Initiative of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
LockUp specialty herbicide provides activity at low use rates (0.02 to 0.06 pound of active ingredient per acre), the company says. Efficacy can be enhanced when LockUp is applied to weeds with wet foliage, but activity also has been seen when it is applied to dry foliage.
